Deep Tissue

Deep tissue is used to prevent pain and injury by realigning deep layers of muscles and connective tissue. DT is known for more specific focus on chronically tense and contracted areas. It involves slow strokes and deep finger or elbow pressure on contracted areas, either following or going across the fibers of the muscles, tendons and facia. DT helps break up and eliminate scar tissue as well as release chronic holding patterns in muscular tension.

Myofacial Release

Upon locating facial tension, gentle and sustained pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction. This effective and therapeutic approach stretches and unwinds the restrictions in the web of connective tissue that contains your muscles and forms your ligaments and tendons. Myofacial release aids in chronic pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, restriction of motion, and headaches.

This is also a great aid in deep tissue work by softening and relaxing muscles allowing for deeper penetration into the musculature.

Sports massage is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery, typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries.

Shiatsu is designed for general relaxation and tonification of the entire system; like acupressure, specific points are pressed along the meridian pathway to help release blocked energy. Pressure may be applied with not only fingers and thumbs but palms, edge of hands, knuckles, forearms, elbows, knees or feet. The sessions includes gentle stretching to help in relaxing muscles and increase range of motion.
